Kara came over this weekend to try out that fabulous boxy bag tutorial.
It was quite a bit fun and the tutorial is easy peasy. I love the results, especially those created with canvas in lieu of interfacing. They are easier to turn and sit up as nicely. Plus, meeting Kara and spending an afternoon talking about her gorgeous Native American jewelry and the fun of being able to create what you want with a sewing machine and in life.
Of course, my favorite are the Frida bags. Check out photos from this recent Frida birthday party. Oh, the sweetness! I am going to use this idea one day.

Wow, you cranked out a lot of boxy bags this weekend!
The boxy pouches look great. I’m almost finished with some gifts for my nieces and (brand new!) nephew, then these boxes are next on my list. I bought some clear vinyl I’m going to try to add to the lining. I hope it works.

Wow, look at all those box bags! I think I may have some IKEA canvas lying around that is begging to be made into one of those!
The two of you certainly had a productive day, look at all the bounty you created. I love the bags and the different fabrics used. I keep meaning to try that tutorial as there are so many uses for those box bags. I want to make one to hold my laptop power cord/adapter and mouse for when I travel.

These are great. Really! I’m envious because I don’t have the moxy to try a box. Really. I’ve thought about it, even purchased a pattern… but never done it. There you go, blazing the trail, again.
Yours turned out so great! Mine ended up in my purse holding all my goodies, embellished with a good luck trinket I got in Chinatown this summer. To be cherished now and always! Thanks again for a fun afternoon
You are so awesome at making big piles of things. I can only make a few of one thing before I get really bored. I wish I had your determination, focus– whatever it is that you possess. I love the little bags. They are so pretty all stacked up and colorful.

Great boxes. My machine was old and made sewing difficult and tiresome, so I bought a new one this Saturday. But I’ve been so busy, I haven’t even opened the box!! (how frustrating) And seeing your stuff just makes me drool. Hope I’ll be able to produce something this weekend. Boxes, deffinitly!!

Ok, I finally made one of these and I love it. But i have a question. when you made it, did you start out with the 12 in zipper as the tute listed? It seems a waste to start and then hack so much of it off anyway….also any tricks to boxing those corners? Thanks!
