I’ve read so much on Buddhism over the years, and I try to follow as much as I can the Dalai Lama words of wisdom, (you’re right, no religion involved here, just human beings and their values) even though is so much hard to do.

Thank you for such a thoughtful post. I live near a university campus and drive through the campus daily. I have been thinking a lot this past week about listening and being connected to the world around us. As I drive through campus, nearly everyone is “plugged in” to a phone or an ipod and I wonder if they miss the song of the birds, the wind, the rustle of the trees and the people around them. I feel a sadness for this disconnectedness and I wonder about how it affects people. We need to listen to God so that we can hear each other and the world around us. Thanks so much for your post!

I love this post! You are such a great writer. I read this post earlier today and have been thinking about it all day. I can’t remember how I initially found your blog but I’ve been reading for about a year. Your posts always seem to make me stop and think and re-evaluate. And I like that. I hope your book does get published because I’ll be the first to buy it. We should have a few more Kelli’s in this world.

As a journalist who has worked with some new writers it’s amazing to me how terrible people are at listening. I almost wonder if it’s a product of the new world of texts, twitters and … is there another T there. So often we miss the real story when we’re not in the state of conscious and conscientious listening. How’s your day? Do you really care, or is there something burning you want to tell me and this is your in? Dating and marriage problems arise from a lack of the kind of listening you’re talking about Kelli. And sometimes God is talking, but we’re not listening. I love your post. I’ll have to listen to the podcast when my ear isn’t filled with the needs of my two lovely children.
