Your my inspiration to get back into reading! I'm embarassed to say that I haven't read a book in a long time--blogs are to blame along with the busyness that comes with being a domestic engineer. I don't think I can set a goal of 40 books but who knows!?

I just started reading "Home" by Marilynne Robinson. I hear "Gilead" by the same author is a great one but they didn't have it at the library. Your recommendation for a book or two to get me started reading again would be greatly appreciated--doesn't have to be a quick-read. Thanks!!!

Oooh, and I'm hoping for a date night with my husband to go watch Brad Pitt's movie!

I have been enjoying an easy reading series by Jan Karon. I am on the third book of the series of The Mitford Years ("At Home in Mitford," A Light in the Window," and "These High Green Hills"). They are delightful stories of a an Episcopal rector in the small charming town of Mitford and of the life, happenings and people in this mountain town. You would think the happenings would be mundane but they are downright miraculous.I find myself laughing and crying, and feel I know the people in the books. As the cover of the box set says, "You'll find a visit to Mitford is good for the soul." It is for me.

Haven't been to the movies lately, though I am looking forward to see Brad Pitts new movie. Glad to hear you liked it. I bought Mama Mia. Having seen the stage production I was curious if they could pull of the energy the live performace has. They did a good job and I enjoyed the movie, but the stage production held much more excitement and energy that's hard to capture on film. Watched "A Christmas Story" with my grandsons over the holiday, as well as "A Bee Movie." Love both.

I love when you start talking books and movies and such, because it helps me add to my own media to-do list. We actually went to the movies last week (!) and saw Yes Man, which was a lot of fun (and I'm not a big Jim Carrey fan. Not at all.); definitely a good one to ring in the new year.

While clearing out the bookshelves last week, I discovered I had an entire shelf of books that have not yet been read. Looks like I have my work cut out for me!

I'm reading "A Long Way Gone, Memoirs of a Boy Soldier" by Ishmael Beah. This is a true story about a 12 year old boy in Sierra Leone. Kelli, this is your kind of book.

Every Christmas my husband, son and I go to the movies. Benjamin Button was our choice this year. I loved it. Not reading anything at the moment - just blogs.

Just finished "Loving Frank" by Nancy Horan and it was great, I highly recommend it. I have Three Cups of Tea on my list as well as other.

Music is whatevers on my iPod.

Movies lately include Valkyrie (good), Doubt (GREAT!), Burn Before Reading (very funny!), Milk (spectacular) and I'm heading to see Slumdog Millionaire this afternoon.

Reading: Men With Balls - The Professional Athlete's Handbook (hilarious and vulgar)
Watching: Saw Benjamin Button and Slumdog...loved both. Rented Lars and The Real Girl (hilarious) and watching Magnolia tonight.
Listening: The Hold Steady, Ryan Adams, Kings of Leon (first few songs are good, not sure about the rest). Going to get Bon Iver, had a ton of recommendations. Did you get all the music from my thumb drive yet? Ready to give it back with new music for me?

happy new year, btw!
