That nativity is so cool! We still have the one my mom made in school. It’s all cracked and stuff and the donkey has no ears (I say it’s Jesus’s deaf donkey) I should send you my advent prayer book, you’d actually take a look at it.

Advent is also a time of waiting. Henri Nouwen writes in a essay, “Waiting for God”, that the practice of waiting is not passive, but active: “Active waiting means to be present fully to the moment, in the conviction that something is happening where you are and you want to be present to it. A waiting person is someone who is present to the moment, who believes that this moment is “the” moment.” May you have a blessed Advent, filled with hope.

My task this month is to teach my 5 year old niece about Christmas. She nows about Santa, trees, stocking and gifts, but nothing about the Nativity. My mother in law has included a baby Jesus in her advent calendar for christmas eve. Hubby’s family is not a religious, faith based or church going family. But I think it’s awesome that they are still interested in teaching Miss 5 so she can make her own decision. Now all I need is a good kid’s book to get started with.
