I've never done an open water swim. With all the rain and wash from up river, I wonder what the water is like lately. I sail Town Lake and always smell funky after being in the water long enough to launch the boat. I haven't sailed lately though. Do people wear long wet suits or shorties? There's a lake in San Jose that hosts a triathlon every year, but I've never done it because it's crammed with geese and there are supposedly these worms in their poop that burrow into your skin and die, leaving big red welts under your bathing suit.
