Eighth Day of Christmas
I wish for another great sew-along. Finny and I have been amigas since our Lumberjack days. But I think our friendship has gotten even stronger this year through the In Stitches project. It has been so fun to see what others create, to watch photos added the the flickr pool from creative folk living all over the world and to have Amy Butler’s nod of approval. Rock on!
{Fully accepting my domestic dorkiness and loving it.}
This is my November/December project. I used the basics of the patchwork handbag to make a dopp kit for my friend John. With some manly Ikea fabric, grosgrain ribbon for the zipper tabs and some heavy plastic webbing for the handle, I whipped this baby up.
Next time? I will cut the length in half. It is ginormous.
If you haven’t voted for the 2008 sew-along, get on over to Finny’s and let us know what you want to do. I’m dreaming of tunics, skirts and new techniques!

I think so, definitely. Between sewing, traveling and enjoying margaritas (many) together - it’s been a very good Fin/Donk year
Happy 8th day - I’m about ready to choose a new book!
December 21st, 2007 at 9:44 amWhat a great bag, I love that Ikea fabric. Can’t wait for the sew-along, I have piles of fabric I want to use up because I need to buy some more. Does that make sense?
December 21st, 2007 at 11:45 amIt looks like bananas!
December 21st, 2007 at 12:10 pmYou have performed your good deed for the year. I always knew of these bags, but their name was always said, not written. A year or so ago I tried to find out the history behind dock/doc/dot kits and failed. Now, I know they’re Dopp kits and I will sleep better tonight. Ok, I made that last part up, but the rest is true.

December 21st, 2007 at 4:01 pmGreat project and gift, Kelli! He’ll love it and it works out great for the In Stitches project. I’m looking forward to the new 2008 challenge, too.
No email capability still at my house, it’s hard to get a tech to get this fixed during Christmas. I keep having to borrow a computer just to make my blog posts. Ah well, it will be resolved eventually.
December 22nd, 2007 at 6:51 amI am still new to blogging and don’t yet know all the ins and outs of it. But I am certainly not new to sewing and crafting and love to share. If there is a InStitches sew along next year I would love to join. I have Amy Butler’s In Stitches book and am ready to start working. Please please please keep me posted.
December 22nd, 2007 at 9:01 pmI can’t see the real size, but it looks great! I recognized the fabrics, I made two bags with similar fabrics and I think they make the bags look so nice!
