Oh, and I had to be schooled in what "bling" was, too, about eight years ago. I teach in a pretty urban school, and I felt I was pretty hip to everything...but a girl had written in her journal about someone wearing a lot of "bling bling". I remember writing in the margin, in big letters and with lots of question marks, "What does this mean??!!" lol

hi kelli. i have been following your trip to africa. what an adventure! i was envious and excited for you at the same time. it really hits close to home this feeling you have for i still have family there. i too, have trouble everyday reconciling with the poverty there and often feel guilty for the wonderful little life that i have had the pleasure of living since leaving my home in eritrea at the age of three. thank you for sharing.
